Record number of visitors at Gamescom this year<\/b><\/p>\n
Last week, the world\u2019s largest gaming convention, Gamescom, took place in Cologne for the third year running. The many innovations and exclusive previews offered by the convention attracted about 340,000 people, a record audience. Day passes were sold out everyday and it was not uncommon to see fans waiting in line all morning to get hold of half-day tickets. To view trailers and obtain information on games like \u201cWardogs\u201d or \u201cAssassin\u2019s Creed 4,\u201d visitors had to wait for up to three hours.<\/p>\n

One of the absolute highlights was of course the unveiling of Microsoft\u2019s new games console \u201cXbox One\u201d and Sony\u2019s \u201cPlaystation 4.\u201d In addition, many visitors themselves were eye-catchers as they arrived in elaborate costumes (the trend of fans dressing up as video game characters comes from Japan and is called \u201cCosplay,\u201d from the words \u201ccostume\u201d and \u201cplay\u201d).<\/p>\n

Lots of good were being offered at the Kaspersky booth. In addition to information about our products, visitors were able to try out two new games ,\u201dX Rebirth\u201d and \u201cSecret Files: Sam Peters,\u201d in the gaming mode of the new Kaspersky Internet Security<\/a>.<\/p>\n A survey at our booth revealed that cybersecurity is becoming increasingly important for gamers. Many gamers now not only pay for the games they play, but they also spend money on virtual goods. As a result, cybercriminals have increasingly been targeting game developers, meaning that gamers\u2019 gaming accounts are more at risk. To end each day we came up with something really special this year. \u00a0Celebrate like a Russian<\/i> was the motto at Cologne Rudolfplatz! On Friday, Saturday and Sunday evening the DJs Yuriy Gurzhy and Katja Kubikova got the party started with a mix of balalaika-rock and roll, klezmer-ska and gypsy \u2013 punk.
