Kaspersky® Labs starts beta testing Kaspersky Anti-Virus 5.0 For Novell Netware Kaspersky Lab, an international data security software developer, starts beta testing Kaspersky® Anti-Virus 5.0 for Novell Netware. The company invites all interested parties to take part in the beta testing of version 5.0, a new generation of Kaspersky Lab' software to be commercially released later this year. The new version incorporates a host of innovations and improvements. A fundamental change differentiating Kaspersky® Anti-Virus 5.0 for Novell Netware from its preceding versions is how it manages server protection based on the creation of tasks for all anti-virus functions. While creating tasks, an administrator can indicate locations to check, object types to check, actions to take in handling suspicious and infected objects, distribute notifications, and keep a log of system reports. Assigning tasks in this way significantly simplifies system administration and options settings. The new generation of Kaspersky® Anti-Virus for Novell Netware is released with a new anti-virus kernel that checks files for viruses in protected address fields. As a result, in case of an emergency, the server remains functional even when a file cannot be disinfected. When operating on multi-processor systems, processing speed is increased with the ability to simultaneously load and manage several anti-virus engines. Another innovative feature allows administrators to load and manage (for the loading and management) several virus kernels simultaneously. As a result, the efficiency of the K Anti-Virus increases significantly. This leads to a marked increase in efficiency by distributing the workload Among the new capabilities of Kaspersky® Anti-Virus 5.0 for Novell Netware is its enhanced user and network administrator notifications system that announces the existence of infected and suspicious files. Previously notifications were sent out only to Novell Netware network clients, whereas now notifications can be sent via email (via SMTP) to all users interested in receiving them. Another feature contributing to ease of use is the upgrade of the statistical reporting system. A serious overhaul has resulted in faster and more convenient administrator access to completed task results, the ability to conduct data filtration, and to sort and combine data. For maximum convenience data is presented in txt and html formats, therefore, viewing and editing can be done with universal programs such as web browsers and text editors. To get more information about the terms and procedures for participation, please visit the beta testing section at the Kaspersky Lab' site by clicking here. The most helpful participants will receive free fully functional commercial versions of the program upon its market release.
