Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2013 has earned the highest ADVANCED+ award after detecting the overwhelming majority of malicious programs in independent testing by AV-Comparatives.

AV-Comparatives’ September test checked how effectively popular security products detect malicious files during standard computer scans with access to a stable Internet connection. Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2013 took part in the File Detection test along with 19 other antivirus solutions from leading vendors.

The products had to scan more than 240,000 malicious files, with Kaspersky Anti-Virus detecting 99.2% of all threats. In addition, the Kaspersky Lab solution returned just five false positives, while the average for all the tested products was closer to 25.

A final analysis of the results shows that Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2013 delivers both strong results on threat detection and minimal false positives, earning it the top ADVANCED+ grade from the independent experts at AV-Comparatives.

“Today, the bulk of malicious files come from the Internet, for instance, from infected websites. Even so, it’s vital to guard against local threats as well. Just one infected flash drive can inflict serious damage to a computer and its owner. According to statistics, 32% of users have encountered this problem[1],” commented Oleg Ishanov, Director of Anti-Malware Research at Kaspersky Lab. “The fact that Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2013 detected practically all malicious files and earned the top ADVANCED+ award from AV-Comparatives’ experts, is without question a remarkable achievement.”
