Kaspersky Lab announces that Kaspersky Internet Security 2011 produced impressive results during testing conducted by AV-Test.org, an independent German research center

Kaspersky Lab, a leading manufacturer of secure content and threat management solutions, announces that Kaspersky Internet Security 2011 produced impressive results during testing conducted by AV-Test.org, an independent German research center.

Testing was carried out in July, August and September 2010, and assessed the performance of 19 IT security products, including Kaspersky Internet Security 2011. The experts at AV-Test evaluated the security level, quality of system restoration following infection, and how user-friendly the products were.

The tests were designed to emulate real-world infection scenarios with the products pitted against zero-day threats from the Internet, malware as it was running on the computer, as well as having to detect samples from collections of the latest and most widespread threats. In the system recovery test, the products faced tasks such as removing active malware components, rolling back unwanted changes to the system, and detecting rootkits. The user-friendliness and performance of the products were tested against criteria that included their impact on computer performance, how often false positives were returned, and whether legitimate software was misdiagnosed as malicious.

The products ran on a 32-bit Windows XP (SP3) platform with default settings and were allowed to update and exchange data with the cloud infrastructure of their respective manufacturers at any time.

Kaspersky Internet Security 2011 successfully passed all the tests and received AV-Test certification in recognition of its performance. In the protection quality test, it was one of only two products to achieve the best score of 5.5 points out of a possible six.
