Kaspersky Internet Security 2011 Triumphs in ComputerBild Security Suite Testing

13 January 2011

Kaspersky Internet Security 2011 has taken first place in a major benchmark test of Internet security suites carried out by ComputerBild, one of Europe’s biggest and most authoritative computer magazines.

Kaspersky Lab’s end-user solution outperformed the competition in a test-of-the-best against nine rival products.

Kaspersky Internet Security 2011 has taken first place in a major benchmark test of Internet security suites carried out by ComputerBild, one of Europe’s biggest and most authoritative computer magazines. A total of eight retail and two freeware software solutions were tested by ComputerBild for its 1/2011 issue. Kaspersky Lab’s flagship product performed outstandingly in all the test categories, achieving an unrivalled overall score of 2.41 out of 6, with 1 being the highest score attainable.

In the ‘inactive test’, ComputerBild examined how well the security programs were able to identify inactive malware stored on hard drives. The solutions were required to perform scans to identify more than 300,000 recent and particularly dangerous malicious samples. The ‘active test’ analyzed how many undetected, inactive malicious programs triggered alarms when launched. In this category, Kaspersky Internet Security 2011 stopped all active malicious programs before they were able to cause any damage to the computer. Kaspersky Internet Security 2011 also demonstrated the best malware detection rate.

“Reliable malware detection, simple operation and useful extra features – it’s no wonder that Kaspersky Lab came first in our test,” was how the experts at ComputerBild summed up the performance of Kaspersky Internet Security 2011.

“Our company has always placed great emphasis on giving users the highest possible level of protection. This approach has seen a number of technologies developed by us becoming industry standards. The latest test conducted by one of Europe’s largest computer magazines confirms that our new generation of products continues to meet the very highest demands expected of a security solution. We are particularly pleased to see that Kaspersky Internet Security demonstrated a 100% detection rate for active threats in the real-world test, ensuring that we won this prestigious award for the second year in a row,” said Nikolay Grebennikov, Chief Technology Officer at Kaspersky Lab.
